A friend recently commented that he liked “Ali”. “It’s good“, he said, “but it’s not Rocky.” He wondered if it was because it really wasn’t fiction like Rocky.
We always believe in larger than life characters. And yet we look for the realistic edge in them. Rocky will always be greater than Batman.
He said, there was nothing to gain in believing in the ordinary. We need something that’s not too far to achieve. Something conceivable has a stronger push on the human spirit than talking about Peter Pan and Superman. They are so far out that you settle with the knowledge that they are unreal. Because Rocky is the exact balance between truth and fiction
