So I was telling MW that Nicolas Sarkozy is such a dude…. It takes balls, no, footballs to actually get divorced before an election, have a whirlwind relationship while in office, and get married too. Oh, and also, that Bruni chick is quite a chick, really…. So good job, dude.
So here’s a question. Why will I call Sarkozy a dude, and not a stud? When will a guy call another guy a stud, and when a dude?
Serious male psychology question, really, this….
Here’s the explanation. (and here we is any other guy who mentions the dude as such…. and let me make the demarcation, when you call your friend a dude, that is just a term of reference/ endearment; this reference to a dude refers specifically to calling one such whom one does not know) A dude is one we admire and like unconditionally, as I do Sarkozyfor the way he is (and not his economic policies, may it be noted). A stud is one we admire because we do not really have a choice, one we admire yes, but with a certain bit of disrespect, the way in which we would really like him to fall from grace… yeah, there is definitely a little bit of envy associated with the whole thing too. A stud is one we admire for his abilities and his achievements, but don’t really like.
A dude is one we admire AND like. A dude is a cool guy.
